Early 1963 Fender Jazzmaster, Sunburst finish in good condition. It's missing the bridge cover but otherwise all original and complete including the brown case. It has a beautiful tortoiseshell pickguard and a rosewood fingerboard. The Jazzmaster was Launched in mid 1958 as the top of the range Fender guitar, and featured Fender’s first neck with a rosewood fretboard. It's an incredible Rock’n’Roll and Surf guitar and was a firm favourite of 90s bands like Nirvana, Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine.
There is lacquer checking throughout the finish and numerous scuffs, dings and patches of wear, mainly around the edges of the body. The back of the neck and edges of the headstock also have some bumps and bruises. The main areas of the body front and back have smaller nicks and dings but are overall in good shape. The frets are in good condition having ben cleaned and dressed in our workshop.
This guitar has been set up in our workshop with a fresh set of strings and a medium-low action. The neck is stamped Jan 63 B. Serial 97410. The tone pot is dates to the 9th week of 63, the volume pot 1st week of 61. There are no signs of disturbance to the solder so I can only assume this pot to be original to the guitar. Both pickups are original with black bobbins and original windings. Weight 7lbs 6oz. Nut width: 42 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 20.4 mm. Depth at 12th fret 25.2 mm. 3-month warranty included.
