FAQ

Why choose Andy Baxter to sell your Vintage Guitar or Bass?

Andy Baxter Bass and Guitars Ltd is the UK’s most reputable vintage bass guitar specialist. As a player, collector, and retailer (having been in the industry for almost 20 years), Andy understands the value of your vintage guitar and bass and appreciates that no two instruments are alike.

Why not use eBay or Facebook Marketplace?

For budget instruments, you can always consider selling privately via eBay, or Facebook (Marketplace or gear pages), but this also can carry some risk. Please be careful to look out for scam purchasers on these platforms. We would suggest using Reverb.com if you did want to go down the route of selling the item yourself.

How can I get my guitar to you?

Andy Baxter Bass and Guitars Ltd operates online and from the Leeds showroom. We are able to collect from most places worldwide. We also have a location in Tampa, Florida, United States. No matter where you are in the world, we will seek the best solution to either have your vintage instrument safely couriered or personally collected from your home.

Do you have a London Location?

Whilst Andy Baxter Bass & Guitars is now based in Leeds, I'm lucky to have some close connections in London, having been involved in the music industry there for over 20 years. My dear friend, Nick Owen who is an amazing session player and vintage bass enthusiast is now part of the team - we worked together at The Bass Centre in London back in the Early 00's. That's where it all started!

Nick really knows his stuff and can collect from pretty much anywhere in London and parts of Kent.

Can you arrange collection from anywhere in the UK?

We can arrange collection from anywhere in the UK either by courier or in person. After we've appraised the instrument online (via photographs), we can arrange to have the instrument collected. If packing boxes are difficult to get, don't worry we will send you one.

My vintage guitar/bass holds sentimental value

We appreciate that some of these instruments have been inherited and are no longer played or appreciated to their fullest. Andy prides himself on finding the best player/collector for the guitars and basses he sells and many of his customers have returned to him for years. He will do his utmost to ensure your guitar/bass is sold to somebody who appreciates it as much as its former owner.

How old is my guitar?

Andy can certainly help you accurately date your gear. Please take as many detailed photos as you can, including the serial number and we’ll research this for you.

Are you insured for delivery?

Depending on the guitar’s value, I may be able to come to you to collect the guitar in person. We also have a location in Tampa, Florida – for anyone located in the United States. If it isn’t economically possible to collect in person, then Andy will arrange a trusted courier to transport the guitar. The shipment will be fully insured and we will make the shipping process easy and hassle-free

How much can I get for my vintage guitar?

Ah, the golden question. Let’s start by looking at as many photos of the item as possible. We’ll need to see close-ups of any damage – even cosmetic wear and we’ll also need to know if everything is working as it should including pick-ups and tuning pegs. After that – we’ll be able to give you a price for your instrument. As a passionate collector, Andy Baxter prides himself on giving the best, honest price for every instrument he purchases.

Selling your instrument from overseas

If you live overseas but plan on visiting the UK. I am happy to meet you in London or pay for your train ticket to Leeds if you're wanting to come and check out some items in the showroom at the same time.

I was born in Leeds and lived in London for over 20 years. I would happily suggest some cool places to visit on your travels and I look forward to welcoming you.
