1955 Fender Precision bass with a blonde finish and a Maple neck & fingerboard. Serial:1065. Weight: 8 lbs 9.5 oz / 3.9 kg. Supplied in a late '60s Fender case. The pickup has been professionally rewound by Lee Lavarack at Toltec Pickups in Leeds. The bridge saddles had deteriorated to the point that one of them was unusable, so I replaced them with period-correct saddles. (original saddles included)
It has a V-profile maple neck and maple fingerboard with clean frets. There is a lot of playwear, as is evident in the pictures, but everything remains structurally sound with no breaks or repairs. It plays well and sounds great with a nice low action.
It's been fully set up in our workshop with a set of flat-wound strings. It has a straight neck, and the truss rod is fully operational in both directions. The pencil dates on both the body and the neck are 1/55. The neck is initialled TG (for Tadeo Gomez). Tadeo Gomez is famous amongst players and collectors for the high quality of his work. The volume pot is dated the 49th week of '54, and the tone pot, the 3rd week of '55. Given how clean the vol pot is compared to the tone pot, which has rusted quite a bit, I suspect one of them may have been changed at some point. Additionally, there is a .1 MFD capacitor (which may not be original to the bass) and no resistor. Nut width 43 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 23 mm. Pickup DC resistance 7.75 k.
