1973 Gibson SB450, Natural **New arrival**

1973 Gibson SB450, Natural finish.  Serial number 183285. It's extremely light weighing only 7 lbs 4 oz. The neck is straight and the truss rod works as it should. The frets are clean with very little play wear.  It's been fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set of strings. It has some scuffs and small dings, mainly around along the edges of the body. There is a more significant section of damage/wear on the back of the body that's been refinished. Otherwise, this bass is in good overall condition. It's missing the metal bridge cover and comes in a new case, otherwise original. In addition to being lightweight, it also has a slim neck. Nut width: 40.85 mm. Depth at the 1st fret: 21.85 mm.  It's a lovely bass to play and it sounds great.

This bass has an alder body, a three-piece maple neck and a 5 piece headstock with volute for stability. As all electrical components are accessible from the front there is no rear control cavity cover, as was the case with EB0, EB3 and EB4 basses of the time. The control plate has an on/off switch for each pickup, a master volume and tone control and input jack. The SB450 was fitted with simple SB Humbuckers. This SB bass would have been one of the very first Gibson basses to be fitted with the three-point bridge. Note the black post surrounds - fitted only to the earliest basses to use this bridge. The tuning keys are Schaller M4S.
