1986 Rickenbacker 4003 Shadow bass in excellent condition. Aside from missing its pickup cover, it's all original and complete including the case. There are only a few small dings in the finish around the edges of teh body and teh top edge of the headstock. The frets show only minimal signs of wear. It has a lovely slim neck and low action. All-round lovely bass.
Set up in our workshop with a set of round-wound strings. The truss rods work perfectly, and the neck is straight and true. All electronics and hardware are in good working order with no issues. The serial ZK 3221 dates the production to November 1986. Weight 9lbs 6oz. Nut width 41mm. Depth at 1st fret 21.5. Supplied with a 3-month warranty.
The 4003 Shadow bass was a limited series bass, reportedly ordered by Guitar Centre in the USA and only 50 were made/ some say more. So this bass is rare to find! The shadow bass is a 4003 model but differs in terms of its all-black hardware padouk fingerboard with black dot inlays, black neck binding and checkered inner body binding.
