1979 Music Man Stingray, Black

1979 Musicman Stingray in very good condition. Black finish, Black pickguard, Maple neck & fretboard. Equipped with a 2 band EQ, non-epoxy preamp and through-body stringing.

There's only one finish chip of any real significance which is on the edge of the upper bout,  other than that there are a few small scuffs/dings elsewhere and some lacquer checking but nothing major. The neck is straight and plays smoothly. It has a changed nut, an added (extension) wire from the battery compartment to the output jack plus some resoldering and one new string mute sponge. (the remaining original sponge has decayed quite a bit and will likely need replacing)  Otherwise original including the case.

The serial number is B021502. Weight: 9lbs 9.5oz. The body date is not fully visible. The neck dates to July 1979. The pots all date to the 18th week of 79. The truss rod is fully working with plenty of room to move. The action is set nice and low.

This is an all-round excellent bass, the sound is warm and punchy. It's been fully set up with a fresh set of Rotosound strings and has a great action allowing for superb playability up and down the neck. Nut Width: 42.75 mm. Depth at 1st fret 19.75mm.
