1977 Gibson RD Artist, Black

1977 Gibson RD Artist Bass in fair-good condition. Black finish, ebony fretboard, serial 72997031. All original except the switch tips and a couple of the screws in the back plate. Original Moog circuitry. Fully set up in our workshop with a set of round-wound strings. It has a very slim nut width, measuring only 40.5mm. Depth at 1st fret is 21.5mm. The weight is 11lbs 9oz. This bass guitar was made at the Kalamazoo Plant, MI, USA.

There are numerous cuffs/dings mainly around the edges of the body and headstock and also quite a bit of buckle rash on the back. There's a patch of finish which has worn through on the back of the neck.  The neck is straight and the action is med-low. The frets are in great shape having been dressed in our workshop and the truss rod is fully functioning. The headstock has no cracks/repairs and only only minimal signs of wear. This is a superb bass to play with a great range of tones.

Maple set neck and body, custom-designed active electronics with built-in compression/expansion, bright and neutral modes. 3-way pickup selector. 34 1/2 inch scale. Pearloid dot inlays and headstock motif. This bass is active with no passive mode. Electronics designed by Moog. Gibson humbucker pickups.
