1975 Gibson Ripper Bass, Natural finish in good condition. Serial number: 99153271. Other than the case, it's all original and complete. Nut width: 42 mm. Depth at the 1st fret: 22 mm.
There are a number of small scuffs/dings in the finish, mainly along the edges of the body and headstock. The neck is straight, and the truss rod works as it should. The frets are in great condition with lots of life left in them. This bass has been fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set of strings.
The Ripper was designed by Bill Lawrence, who was working for Gibson at the time. The contoured body edges vaguely echo the SG, and its offset horns were clearly reminiscent of other popular makes. It has a set neck and through-body stringing, allowing for greater sustain and this bass definitely has that, along with a variety of superb tones thanks to the 4-way switch.
