1973 Rickenbacker 4001, Mapleglo finish with checkerboard binding in very good condition. All original, including the case. Supplied with a 3-month warranty and a 14-day returns policy. Serial MD 1428. (Apr 1973) Weight 9lbs 3.5oz / 4.17kg. Nut width 42.5 mm. Depth at 1st fret 23 mm.
It has checkered binding on the body, white (now cream-coloured) binding on the neck and full-width inlays. The toaster & lead pickups sound fantastic with strong output. The wavy Grover tuners are clean and fully functioning. The neck has a little playwear on the back (frets 2-5) otherwise it's clean and straight with only one or two small dings/scuffs. The frets are in great shape having been cleaned and dressed in our workshop. The headstock has a few scuffs around the edges. There are a few tiny dings on the front of the body, some patches of wear around the edges as well as some scuffs and buckle rash on the back. This bass is great fun to play and has that killer Rick tone.
All hardware and electronics are in fine working order. The pots date to early '73. The truss rods are fully functioning and the action has been set med-low in our workshop with a set of round-wound strings.
