1973 Rickenbacker 4001, Fireglo finish with checkered Binding in good condition. Original hard case included.
The Fireglo finish is still very vibrant and deep in colour. It has checkered binding on the body, white (now cream coloured) binding on the neck & crushed pearl inlays. The toaster & lead pickups sound fantastic with strong output. The wavy Grover tuners are clean and fully functioning. The neck is straight and plays well but does have a few dings and scuffs in teh finish. The frets are in good shape with minimal wear. The binding has mellowed to a creamy Yellow and is all intact. There are numerous scuffs and dings in the body mainly around the edges and around the heel. This is one very fine and rare bass, it's also great fun to play. It has that killer Rick tone as soon as you start playing.
All hardware and electronics are in fine working order. There are a couple of replaced wires in the control harness and the pickup cover is new. The truss rods are fully functioning and the action has been set nice and low in our workshop with a set of what I believe are Thomastik Infeld flats. Serial ME 2025. (May 1973) Weight 9lbs 5oz. Nut width 41.8 mm. Depth at 1st fret 23.5 mm.
