1968 Fender Precision Bass, Sunburst

1968 Fender Precision Bass with a sunburst finish, tortoise-shell guard and a rosewood fingerboard. This bass is all complete including the metal covers thumb rest and case. It has a new nut and re-soldered pickups. When the bass arrived the pickups were completely stuck to the rubber underneath which had disintegrated into a sticky mess. I removed the rubber as carefully as I could from both the underside of the pickups and the copper shielding but in the process the wires connected to the controls became loose so I made a better connection with some fresh solder. I have added some fresh rubber to the copper shielding plate. The bass is otherwise original, including the case.

The body finish has plenty of play wear and battle scars which are mainly around the edges of the body and also a patch of buckle rash on the back. The finish on the back of the neck and headstock have relatively light wear with only only a few small scuffs/dings around the headstock. The frets have been dressed ion the workshop and have plenty of life left in them.

It's been fully set up in our workshop with the strings it came in with, which I believe, are Ernie ball 45-105. The truss works correctly and it has a straight neck and a great action. Serial:221983. The neck stamp reads Nov 68 B. Both pots are dated to the 42nd week of 1966. Neither pickup date is visible due to the rubber that remains stuck underneath. Nut width: 41.3mm. Depth at 1st fret: 21.5 mm. Weight: 8lbs 8oz.
