1966 Hofner 500/1 Beatle Bass in excellent condition. This is a very cool German-built Violin Bass. It's a great player with an excellent warm and woody thump. It has a spruce top with Maple back and sides and a Rosewood fingerboard. All original and complete with the exception of the case and tea cup control knobs. The case and knobs are brand new and ordered directly from Hofner.
The electronics are in good working order and the staple pickups sound great. This Hofner has aged beautifully. It has 22 frets, plus a zero fret for smoother playing, improved intonation, and better sustain. There are a few tiny bits of wear on the front of the body, the back of the body is very clean without any buckle rash.
It's been fully set up with a set of short scale flat-wound strings, it has a straight neck and a smooth action. It's nice and light as you would expect weighing only 4lbs 10oz. The pot stamps read- 250K 36 (the last digit is the year).
