1966 Fender Jazz bass, Sunburst finish in excellent condition. Tortoiseshell guard, Rosewood fretboard with binding and block inlays. All original and complete aside from an excellent re-fret with correct size frets and a new bone nut. Original case, leather strap, sales receipt from '66 and a picture of the original owner with the bass. Supplied with 3-months warranty and a 14-day returns policy.
The Sunburst finish is in great condition and still very vibrant, there are fairly common signs of age and playwear, including small scuffs and dings mainly around the edges. There's some light buckle rash on the back and minor lacquer checking throughout. The neck has light play-wear and the headstock has light lacquer checking and some tiny scuffs around the edges. All hardware and electronics are in good working order including the truss rod. The frets are in great shape and the neck is straight.
This bass is a great player with a superb even sound right across the fretboard. The neck is stamped Sep 66 A. All 3 pots date to the 31st week of 1966. The pickups have untouched solder and original winds. The rubber has stuck to the underside so the dates are not visible. Fully set up in our workshop with great action and strung with a set of Rotosound 45-105 round wound strings. Serial number: 170077. Weight: 9 lbs 0.5 oz / 4.1 kg. Nut width: 38 mm. Depth at 1st fret 21.4 mm. Pickup DC resistance, neck: 6.72k, neck: 6.71k.
