1966 Fender Jazz bass, sunburst finish, in very good condition. Tortoiseshell guard, bound rosewood fretboard, with pearl blocks. All original and complete, including the case.
This bass is a great player with a superb, even sound right across the fretboard. The Sunburst finish has fine lacquer checking, along with small dings and scuffs, mainly around the edges. It has 2 holes in the body face just above the guard from a previous owner moving the finger/thumb rest. There's also a circular shadow on the face of the upper horn from a sticker that's since been removed. The back of the neck has light play wear, but is very clean overall. The top edge of the headstock has a couple of scuffs and small dings, but is generally pretty clean. Everything remains structurally sound, and all hardware and electronics are in good working order. The frets are in great shape, having been dressed in our workshop.
Fully set up in our workshop with great action and a set of D'Addario round-wound strings. Serial number: 165543. Weight: 8 lbs 9 oz / 3.89 kg. Nut width: 37.5 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 21.5 mm. The neck is stamped Sep 66 A. Both pickups have original winds and unbroken solder; no dates are visible as the sponge has completely stuck hard to the underside. The pots all date to the 18th week '66.
