1964 Fender Precision Bass, Sunburst

1964 Fender Precision Bass with a sunburst finish over an Alder body. Serial: L24635. It's in good condition and all original, including the case. It has a wide and slim C profile maple neck with a beautifully figured rosewood fingerboard, a 7.25" radius and "clay" dots. It still retains the spaghetti logo which would change to a bold Fender logo in late 64 along with the introduction of pearl dots. Supplied with 3-months warranty and 14-day returns policy.

As you can see the Sunburst is still fairly vibrant with light fade. There are numerous scuffs and dings to the back of the body and a large area of buckle rash. The front of the body is relatively clean by comparison and has just a few small scuffs as well as some arm wear on the edge of the upper bout. There's light to medium lacquer checking throughout. The neck has light wear through the finish. The headstock has a few small scuffs, mainly on the top edge and some light lacquer checking but is mostly free from wear. There are no breaks or repairs and everything remains structurally sound. It's an all round excellent bass, a joy to play and sounds incredible.

This bass has been fully set up in our workshop and is strung with a fresh set of D'Addario flat-wound strings and med-low action. (just a fraction over 2mm at the 12th on the low E side) The neck is date stamped May 64 C. Both pots are stamped 304 6410, dating them to the 10th week of 64. The pickup has back bobbins and original winds, with no visible date stamps. Weight: 8 lbs 8.5 oz / 3.87 kg. Nut width: 44 mm, depth at 1st fret 20.5 mm. Pickups resistance: 11.4 kohm.
