This is a one-owner 1962 Fender Precision Bass in excellent condition with a Sunburst finish over an Alder body. It has a wide C profile Maple neck with a beautiful dark slab rosewood fingerboard, a 7.25" radius and clay dots. Serial: 79391. This bass is all original with unbroken solder and comes with the original leather strap and cable. Supplied in a homemade case (made in '62 to go with the bass - it's very well put together and is similar to the Selmer cases of the period). There's also a set of 70s Monopole flat-wound strings in the case. **A picture of the original owner, Keith Greaves, with the bass, in his early '60s band "The Black Arrows" is included**
This is a fantastic playing and sounding instrument. It has an amazing neck and original frets, which are in excellent condition, having been strung with flats its whole life. There are a few small scuffs & dings and patches of general playwear to the body finish, but nothing major. Overall, it's in wonderful condition, and the Sunburst remains vibrant. The back of the neck has some playwear through the finish along the edges. The headstock is very clean with just a few small scuffs along the top edge. Everything remains structurally sound with no breaks or repairs, including the pickguard, which is fully intact with minimal shrinkage.
This bass has been fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set of La Bella 760FS 45-105 flat-wound strings. The neck is straight, and the truss rod works correctly. The neck date is April '62. The tone pot dates to the 18th week of '62 and the volume pot to the 12th week of '62. The pickups have Black bobbins and original winds. Weight: 8 lbs 14.5 oz / 4.03 kg. Nut width: 43.5 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 21.5 mm. Pickup DC resistance: 11.05k.
