1961 Fender Precision Bass with a Fiesta Red Refinish. The headstock and the back of the neck have also been refinished. It has a replacement white pickguard and one changed pot. (volume pot dates to 1966) The slab rosewood fingerboard has been re-fretted with period-correct size frets. The front face of the headstock has been shaved slightly from above the G string tuner post to the tip. (see photos) The original decal has been re-used. The pickup cavity, which would usually have a visible pencil date is painted over. The control cavity has also been modified. (it has been squared off) I'm confident that the body is original due to the nail holes being present and the router hump by the neck pocket. ( you can see from the picture I have included when the body was stripped prior to the refinish being applied that the nail holes are present) The body finish has been given a light relic. The neck and headstock are clean with no wear added.
It's been fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set of D'addario Chrome flat-wound strings and has a straight neck and a great action. Serial:63759. The neck pencil date is only partially visible. The volume pot dates to 1966. The tone pots dates to the 20th week of 61. Both pickups have black bobbins and original winds. Nut width: 44 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 19.8 mm. Weight: 8lbs 10.5 oz.
