Early 1960 Fender Precision Bass with a Sunburst finish over an Alder body. It has a wide C profile Maple neck with a beautifully figured dark Rosewood fingerboard which has a 7.25" radius and clay dots. It's nice and light weighing in at 8lbs 6.5oz. Serial:49401. I suspect a re-fret has been done however if it is the work is so tidy its unnoticeable. It has original hardware, pots, pickups and finish. It comes in a fairly new black hard-case.
This is a fantastic playing and sounding instrument, it has a straight neck and a low action. There are numerous patches of wear in the finish with scuffs and dings around the edges of the body. There's a more substantial but small dent in the wood on the top edge of the upper horn.
This bass has been fully set up with a set of flat-wound strings. The neck date is not present, the body is dated 2/60. Both pots date to the 9th week of 1960. The pickups have Black bobbins and original winds. Nut width:42.1 mm. depth at 1st: 20.5mm
