1955 Fender Precision bass in good condition, 2 tone Sunburst, Maple fingerboard. Serial 7142. There's some buckle rash on the back of the body and some small nicks and dings in the finish of the body and neck/headstock. It plays and sounds great with a nice low action. It has that really woody, earthy, thumpy tone that makes it a pleasure to play.
The pickup has been rewound and the solder on the volume pot has been disturbed (it would have needed to be to get the pickup out for rewind) The tweed case is brand new. I suspect the metal neck pickup cover has been replaced. Otherwise all original. V profile maple neck and maple fingerboard with clean frets.
Fully set up with a fresh set of D'addario Chrome flat wound strings. It has a straight neck and the truss rod is fully operational. The pencil date in the pickup cavity reads 9/55. The neck pencil date is 10/55. Both pots are original but only one date stamp is visible and it dates to the 15th week of 1955, the other pot date is covered in solder. The pickup output is nice and strong. Weight 9lbs 5oz. Nut width 43.85 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 24.2 mm.
