1982 Fender Precision Special, Olympic White finish with a matching headstock. It's in very good condition. The bass was refretted in January 2026. At the same time, the fretboard was sprayed with a clear coat. The switch is also new. Otherwise, all original.
The finish has turned cream coloured. There are a number of small scuffs and dings in the finish, mainly around the edges of the body and a couple on the tip of the headstock. The frets are extremely clean as they are new. All hardware and electronics are in fine working order. The truss rod is fully functioning.
The bass is strung with what I believe are Ernie Ball round-wound strings. It has a great medium/low action, having been set up in our workshop. Serial: G022060. Weight 10 lbs 8.5 oz / 4.78 kg. Nut width 42 mm. Depth at 1st fret 22 mm. The neck is dated 1982, as are the pots.
This was Fender's first active bass with a specially developed active circuit (preamp, bass & treble), but it can also be used in passive mode with a passive tone control. Made for only a brief period of time between 1980 & 1982, these awesome basses are becoming increasingly difficult to find & are a definite must-have for any serious collector or player.
