1968 Fender Jazz Bass with a Sunburst finish in very good condition. Maple neck with a Rosewood fingerboard and White binding. All original and complete with untouched solder. Being made in early '68, it still retains lollipop tuners and a nitro finish on the neck and headstock. This bass is super light, weighing just 8 lbs 0.5 oz. Pertinent to the weight of this bass is the fact that the neck pocket is marked with the word "PINE" in capital letters. This lettering is consistent with factory markings, and the grain in the body does not appear to be alder and certainly not ash. I believe the body to be pine.
There are a few scuffs & dings around the edges, as well as some buckle rash on the back. The neck finish is in excellent condition with only light wear. The frets are very clean, having been cleaned and polished in our workshop and have plenty of life left in them. The truss rod works as it should, and the neck is straight. The headstock is clean overall, but does have a couple of small scuffs along the top edge and some lacquer checking. There is a small crack in the pickguard, which we have repaired in our workshop.
Fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set of La Bella RX-N4D 45-105 nickel round-wound strings and low action, giving great playability. Serial 223345. Weight: 8 lbs 15.5 oz / 4.07 kg. Nut Width 38 mm. Depth at 1st fret 22 mm. The neck is date-stamped, APR 68 A. The pickups have untouched solder and original winds. As the sponge has gone hard and stuck to the underside, the pickup dates cant be read. The original pots also have untouched solder and are all mid-66.
