1978 Music Man Stingray with a rare slim 38 mm nut width. Sunburst finish in very good condition, black pickguard, maple neck & fretboard. Equipped with a 2-band EQ, epoxy-coated preamp, and through-body stringing. Aside from a refret and new mute sponge, it's all original, including the hard case.
The body finish is pretty clean overall, but does have a few scuffs and dings, mainly around the edges, as well as some to the face of the upper bout. In addition, there are 2 extra holes by the neck plate where a previous owner must have experimented with the position of the strap button. The headstock has a few small scuffs along the top edge but is otherwise clean, and the back of the neck has some wear through the finish. The neck is straight and plays smoothly. The frets have minimal wear and have been cleaned and polished in our workshop. The electronics work perfectly, and all hardware is in excellent condition. The truss rod works correctly without issue. This is an all-around excellent bass.
It's been fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set of Ernie Ball round-wound strings and has a great action, allowing for superb playability up and down the neck. The serial number is B010839. Weight: 9 lbs 11 oz / 4.4 kg. The neck has 2 date stamps, June 6th and 7th, 1978. The body date is not visible. The pots are dated to late-78. Nut Width: 38 mm. Depth at 1st fret 24 mm.
