1978 Gibson RD Artist, Black

1978 Gibson RD Artist Bass, serial: 70048073. Black finish, Ebony fretboard, very good condition. Original Moog circuitry and pots are untouched. All original including the case. Fully set up by my technician with a fresh set of flat-wound strings. Weight:11 lbs 11 oz. Nut width: 41.85mm. Depth at 1st fret: 21.45mm. This guitar was made at the Kalamazoo Plant, MI, USA, January 4th, 1978. Production Number: 73. The back of the headstock has the "Second" stamp, indicating the factory deemed it to have a finish flaw at the time. Given that this Bass is 40 years old there's no way of knowing where the flaw in the finish was.

There are a few small marks/dings to the body finish and the same to the back of the neck and headstock. The neck is straight and the action is set up nice and low. The frets are in great shape and the truss rod is fully functioning. The headstock has no cracks/repairs. This is a superb bass to play with a great range of tones. Its marked as a second.

Maple set neck and body, custom designed active electronics with built in compression / expansion, bright and neutral modes. 3 way pickup selector. 34 1/2 inch scale. Perloid dot inlays and headstock motif. This bass is active with no passive mode. Electronics designed by Moog. Gibson humbucker pickups.
