1976 Gibson Ripper Bass, ebony finish in good condition. The strap buttons have been changed to strap locks. Otherwise, all original and complete, including the case. Serial: 00157893. Previously owned by the bass player in "Alive '75" (Kiss tribute act)
The body has moderate playwear, including a few scuffs, small dings and some areas of buckle rash on the back. There's a screw hole on the inside edge of the upper horn from someone repositioning the strap button. The back of the neck and headstock are relatively clean with only a little wear. The neck is straight, and the truss rod works as it should. The frets have been dressed and cleaned up in our workshop.
Fully set up with low action and great playability. The pot dates are covered by solder. Nut width of 42 mm. Depth at the 1st fret: 21 mm. Weight: 10 lbs 5 oz / 4.68 kg
The Ripper was designed by Bill Lawrence, who was working for Gibson at the time. The contoured body edges vaguely echo the SG, and its offset horns were reminiscent of other popular makes. It features a set neck and through-body stringing, which allows for greater sustain.
