1961 Gibson LG-2 ADJ, Cherry Sunburst, gorgeous example in excellent + condition with after-market case. '61 was the first year of the adjustable rosewood bridge, however, this LG2 has had the adjuster screws removed. Serial:39301. Above the serial, you will see the number 2 stamped into the headstock, indicating the factory deemed it to have a finish flaw at the time. Given that this acoustic is over 60 years old it's hard to know where the flaw in the finish was. 14 1/2" wide body, solid Sitka Spruce top with X style bracing, Mahogany back and sides. It's wide at the nut and sounds beautiful.
From the Gibson Catalog;
"LG-2 ADJ -- Popular for its rich cherry sunburst top... for its mellow resonant tone... for its fine Gibson quality at a modest price. Has slim, fast, low-action, one-piece Honduras Mahogany with adjustable truss rod... selected Spruce top and Rosewood fingerboard ... pearl dot inlays, and nickel-plated enclosed machine heads."
There are only a few small dings/marks & scuffs in the finish on the front/ back of the body and headstock. The sides of the body are almost entirely free from wear. The neck is immaculate and the original frets have lots of life left in them with only very minimal wear. The neck is straight and the frets are in excellent condition with very little wear. Everything remains structurally sound with no cracks, breaks or repairs. There is a slight lift in the pickguard along the top edge where it meets the neck.
This acoustic has been fully checked over in our workshop and set up with great action. Nut width:42.5 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 20 mm. Weight: 4lbs 4.5oz / 1.94 kg. Serial:39301. Supplied with a 3-month warranty and 14-day returns policy.
