The 1964 Fender Precision Bass with a Sunburst Refinish done by Clive Brown. It has a tortoise-shell guard and a rosewood fingerboard with clay dots. Previously fitted with a Jazz pickup at the bridge and an extra volume pot. The route for this pickup was filled in during the refinishing. The bass plays very well with an even sound right across the fretboard. The refinish is very convincing and would fool most people until you see Clives initials in the pickup cavity.
The changes: refinished, refretted, small circular repair to the pickguard, just above the volume pot. One half of the pickup has been rewound. Changed control knobs.
It's been fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set of D'addario Chrome flat-wound strings and has a straight neck and a great action. Serial:L22840. The neck is dated Jan 64. The pots both date to early '64. Nut width: 44 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 21.5 mm. Weight: 9 lbs 1 oz / 4.11 kg.
