One-owner 1962 Fender Precision Bass with a Sunburst Refinish in good condition. The back of the neck has been oversprayed with a clear coat. It has a tortoise-shell guard and a rosewood fingerboard with clay dots. The bass plays very well with an even sound right across the fretboard. There are several small nicks and dings in the finish, mainly around the edges of the body and headstock, as well as some wear on the back of the neck.
The changes/repairs: refinished body and back of neck, hairline surface cracks running from the tuner screw holes E, A & D. (see pictures) Volume pot replaced. New cloth wires. The control cavity has been ever so slightly enlarged at one end to accommodate a battery. (previously had EMG pickups fitted)
It's been fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set of D'addario Chrome flat-wound strings and has a straight neck and a great action. Serial: 87887. The neck is dated Nov '62. The original pot is dated 37th week '62. Nut width: 43.6 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 21 mm. Weight: 8 lbs 6.5 oz / 3.82 kg.
