1966 Fender Jazz bass, Sunburst finish, tortoiseshell guard, Rosewood fretboard, original case. It's all original aside from the metal neck pickup cover. (Fender pure vintage replacement) This is a transition period, dot & bound Rosewood neck, Jazz Bass. This bass is a great player with a superb even sound right across the fretboard.
The finish has lacquer checking throughout and a few small scuffs and dings, mainly around the edges. There's a fair amount of play wear to the body finish and on the back of the neck. The headstock has a few small dings around the edges, lacquer checking and quite a bit of the silver in the Fender logo missing. All hardware and electronics are in good working order. It has original frets which are in great shape with very little wear.
The neck is stamped July 66 A. The pots all date to mid 66. The pickups have original winds but the dates are not visible le due the sponge being stuck to the underside. Fully set in our workshop with a great action and a set of flat-wound strings. Serial number: 163291. Weight: 8 lbs 15 oz. Nut width: 37.85 mm. Depth at 1st fret 21 mm.
