1961 Fender Jazz Bass, Sunburst

Late 1961 Fender Jazz Bass, Sunburst - in good condition. This is one of the earliest 3-knob configuration Jazz basses. It is supplied with the original case, mute kit, leather strap, cable, and owner's manual. It has a beautiful tortoiseshell guard and a slab rosewood fretboard with "clay" dots.

It's a great player with a superb even sound right across the fretboard.  It comes with a 3-month warranty and a 14-day returns policy. Serial number: 65331. Weight: 8 lbs 8.5 oz / 3.88 kg. Nut width: 38 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 20.4 mm. Pickup DC resistance: N 7.56k / B 7.95k.

There's lacquer checking throughout the finish as well as plenty of finish wear, dings and scuffs. The back of the neck has wear through the finish as well as a few dings and scuffs. The headstock also has playwear and several small dings. There's a split at the tip of the pickguard (lower horn) and the cutout around the neck pickup has been slightly enlarged. There's also one extra hole to the right of the bridge (when looking at it vertically and face-on) which seems to be where someone has lined up the metal cover incorrectly. The frets have been cleaned and dressed in our workshop. All hardware and electronics are in good working order. The metal pickup and bridge covers are a little rusty on the underside. The truss rod works correctly.

Fully set in our workshop with great action and a set of flat-wound strings. The neck pencil date is 9/61. The body has a pencil date of 8/61. Both pickups have black bobbins and original winds. The 2 original pots date to the 20th week of '61. (one pot has been replaced)

Condition Good 7/10
Case OHSC
Weight 8 lbs 8.5 oz / 3.88 kg
Serial Number 65331
