1981 Music Man Stingray in exceptionally good / near-mint condition. Natural finish, black pickguard, maple neck with a rosewood fretboard. Equipped with a 2-band EQ and through-body stringing. Aside from the new mute sponge, it's all original, including the hard case.
The body finish is extremely clean overall, with just a few tiny scuffs and dings, mainly around the edges of the body. The neck is straight and plays smoothly. The frets have been cleaned and polished in our workshop and are in great shape with plenty of life left in them. The electronics work perfectly, and all hardware is in excellent condition. The truss rod works correctly without issue. This is an all-around excellent bass.
It's been fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set of Ernie Ball round-wound strings and has a great action, allowing for superb playability up and down the neck. The serial number is B014554. Weight: 10 lbs 9.5 oz/ 4.81 kg. The body date is Aug 1980, and the neck date is Aug 1981. The pots are dated to late-78 and early-79. Nut Width: 42.5 mm. Depth at 1st fret 20.5 mm. This bass has a serial number that falls into the 1979 range; however, the body is dated to 1980, and the neck to 1981, so I have dated it by its youngest part.
