1964 Fender Precision Bass, Olympic White

1964 Fender Precision Bass with an Olympic White finish over an Alder body. It has a wide and slim C profile Maple neck with a beautiful dark Rosewood fingerboard which has a 7.25" radius and clay dots. It's been re-fretted with medium jumbo frets (more like a '70-s Precision) and its missing the metal neck pickup cover. It also appears to have had some other tuners on it at one time as there are 2 extra screw holes underneath each tuner backplate which have since been filled. (they are not visible unless the tuner is off) Otherwise original and complete including the case. It's nice and light weighing 8lbs 10oz. Serial number:L42282.

This bass has plenty of mojo, having clearly been played and no doubt loved over many years and it plays and sounds great. It has a straight neck and the frets have lots of life left in them. It has heavy play wear throughout the body finish. The finish on the back of the neck has worn through leaving a smooth and comfortable neck. The pickguard is fully intact with no cracks and only minimal shrinkage.

This bass has been fully set up in our workshop with a set of ground-wound strings. The neck dates to September 1964. Only the tone pot has a fully readable date stamp which is, 304-6440. The volume pot date code is partially covered in solder. What can be made out is 304-642? ( the last digit is not visible) The pickups have Black bobbins and original winds.  Nut width:44.25 mm Depth at 1st fret: 20.65mm.
