1961 Fender "Stack Knob" Jazz Bass, Sunburst finish in very good condition. Tortoiseshell guard, slab rosewood fretboard, "clay" dots, original case. All original, aside from the metal covers and a rewound back pickup. It's a great player with a superb even sound right across the fretboard. Serial number: 60972. Weight: 9 lbs 3.5 oz / 4.18 kg. Nut width: 38.5 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 19.5 mm.
The finish is in very good condition overall. There's some fine lacquer checking and general playwear, including a few dings, scuffs and small scratches which are mainly around the edges of the body, as well as a little buckle rash on the back. The neck finish has worn along each edge, leaving it very smooth in the hand. The headstock has a few small dings, but nothing major. Everything remains structurally sound, and all hardware and electronics are in good working order. The original frets are in excellent condition. The pickguard has no cracks and only minimal shrinkage.
The pencil date in the pickup cavity is 10/60. The neck pencil date reads 4/61. The pots date to the 8th week of '61. Fully set in our workshop with great action and a set of round-wound strings. (brand unknown)
