1961 Fender Precision Bass, Fiesta Red

  • Sale
  • Regular price £19,995.00

1961 Fender Precision Bass, original Fiesta Red finish in Excellent condition. All original and complete including the Selmer case.  Supplied with a 3-month warranty and a 14-day returns policy.

This 1-owner bass came to us via the cousin of its original owner, Robert McNair. He lived in Paisley, Scotland and played the bass locally in bands until the early 80s when he sadly passed away. Since then the bass has remained in its case with his cousin. Robert clearly looked after the bass and as it has been in the case now for 40 years since his passing, it remains in excellent condition with very little wear and tear.

I have gone through this bass with a fine toothcomb and photographed it in regular light and under black light. There is no other paint in any of the nail holes and everything to my eyes (and nose) checks out correctly. There is general light playwear including some small scuffs and dings to the finish, particularly around the edges and on the back of the body. The back of the neck is extremely clean with barely any signs of wear. The headstock is almost as clean with just a couple of very small scuffs along the top edge. The action is med/low. The truss rod functions correctly and the neck is straight with original frets which are in great condition.

This bass has been fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set of D'addario flat-wound strings. The pencil date on the end of the neck is 3/61. The pots have unbroken solder and are dated to the 7th week of 1961. The pickups have untouched solder, black bobbins and original winds. Serial number: 55756, weight: 8 lbs 13.5 oz / 4.01 kg. Pickup DC resistance: 10.7 k.

Condition Excellent 8.75/10
Case OHSC
