1978 Musicman Stingray in very good condition. Walnut finish, black pickguard, maple neck & fretboard. It is equipped with a 2-band EQ, epoxy-coated preamp and through-body stringing. Aside from a rewound pickup, it's all original with original Music Man Black tolex case.
There are a few small scuffs/dings in the finish, mainly around the edges of the body with a couple of large patches of buckle rash. The neck is clean, straight and plays smoothly and the truss rod works as intended with plenty of room to move. The frets show minor signs of wear but are overall pretty clean and tidy. The fretboard itself has some finish wear through the lacquer. There are a few small scuffs around the edges of the headstock but nothing major. Everything remains structurally sound with no breaks or repairs.
This is an all-round excellent bass, the sound is warm and punchy. It's been fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set of Ernie Ball round-wound strings and has great action allowing for superb playability up and down the neck.
The serial number is B009802. Weight: 10 lbs / 4.54 kg. The body and neck are both stamped Nov 1978. All 3 pots date to 1978 - 2 to the 15th week and 1 to the 39th week. Some of the wiring has been replaced. Nut width: 42.4 mm. Depth at 1st fret 20.8mm.
