1966 Fender Precision Bass in excellent condition with an Olympic White refinish over an Alder body. It has a wide C-profile Maple neck, a beautiful dark rosewood fingerboard with a 7.25" radius and pearl dots. It weighs 8 lbs 6.5 oz / 3.81 kg. Serial: 163139. Other than the refinish, this bass is all original. Supplied in a Gator hard case. The refinish was done, at my request, as it had been stripped to natural, by Yuuki Mclure from Player Grade Vintage in the UK. He gave the finish a very light ageing.
This is a fantastic playing and sounding instrument. The frets are in great condition. The finish on the body has been given a few small dings and scuffs, as well as lacquer checking. The neck has its original finish and has aged naturally, with a couple of small dings, some light wear through the finish along one edge, and lacquer checking. The headstock is generally clean with only a few small scuffs along the top edge.
This bass has been fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set of La Bella flat-wound strings. The neck date is AUG 66 C. Both pots date to early '66. The pickups have original winds, and both have the handwritten date of 9-2-66. All-around fantastic bass. Nut width: 44.5 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 22 mm.
