1966 Fender Jazz Bass, Sunburst

1966 Fender Jazz bass, sunburst finish in excellent condition. Tortoiseshell guard, bound rosewood fretboard, with pearl blocks. All original and complete, including the case.

This bass is a great player with a superb even sound right across the fretboard. The Sunburst finish has some very fine lacquer checking as well as some small dings and scuffs, mainly around the edges. The back of the neck has light play-wear through the finish, leaving it very smooth in the hand, as well as some light scratches. The top edge of the headstock has a couple of scuffs but is clean overall. Everything remains structurally sound, and all hardware and electronics are in good working order. The frets are in great shape, having been cleaned and dressed in our workshop. Interestingly, the bridge cover was installed *at the factory*, slightly at an angle. I will leave it up to a future owner to decide if they wish to straighten this up, but it would mean 1 extra screw hole by the bridge.

Fully set in our workshop with great action and what I believe are Ernie Ball round-wound strings. Serial number: 164040. Weight: 8lbs 11.5oz / 3.95 kg. Nut width: 38 mm. Depth at 1st fret 22 mm. The neck is stamped Aug 66 A. Both pickups have original winds and unbroken solder; no dates are visible as the sponge has completely stuck to the underside. The pots all date to '66. The week on one is covered in solder - the other 2 are date-stamped 18th week.

Condition Excellent 8.5/10
Case OHSC
Weight 8lbs 11.5oz / 3.95 kg
Serial Number 164040
