1979 Wal Pro 1E, Trans Red

1979 Wal Pro 1E, Trans Red finish in excellent condition. Serial: PB 1399. The neck was replaced under warranty in 1982 and the bridge in 1986.

In the early days of Wal production, some pro basses had issues with necks warping. These were replaced under warranty when the new smaller headstock was developed.
If you check out some 80s youtube videos of Mick Khan (Japan) Leigh Gorman (Bow Wow Wow) you can see examples of Pro basses with paddle and MK1 custom headstocks. The Wal database also lists many pro basses with the smaller headstock. There is even a category for this style of headstock ie paddle or MK1.

There are a few small surface marks on the back of the body and some small dings around the edges but overall it's in great condition. The neck and headstock are almost entirely free from wear. The frets are in great condition having been cleaned and dressed in our workshop. There is an extra hole in the top edge of the heel where someone moved the strap button and 2 more just above the pickup where someone must have previously fitted a thumb rest.

Fully set up in our workshop with a low action and strung with a set of D'Addario 45-105 strings. Weight:  9 lbs 15 oz / 4.51 kg. Nut width: 42.9 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 21.6.
