1965 Fender Jaguar, Sunburst

1965 L series Fender Jaguar, serial L63425, Sunburst finish in very good + condition. It has a tortoise pickguard and a rosewood fingerboard with pearl dots and an unbound neck. The bridge pickup has been expertly rewound by Bare Knuckle pickups. The top half on one side of the low E string tuner post has broken but still functions without issue. We have also fitted a new piece of mute sponge. It's been has a professional re-fret and new bone nut fitted. Otherwise all original. Supplied in a brand new Hiscox offset case. It comes with 3-months warranty and a 7-day returns policy.

This is a lovely guitar with only minor play-wear. The body finish has a few very small dings and scuffs, mainly around the edges. The back of the neck is clean but has some minor wear through the finish. The headstock is nearly as clean apart from a few very tiny scuffs along the edge. All hardware is original and works perfectly, including the trem arm and truss rod. The frets are in great shape and have been dressed in our workshop.

This guitar has been set up in our workshop with a fresh set of D'Addario nickel-wound 10-46 strings and a low action. The neck is stamped JUL 65 B. Serial L63425. The pots both date to the 19th week of 65. Weight 8 lbs 7.5 oz. Nut width: 41 mm. Depth at 1st fret: 20.5 mm. Width at 12th fret: 50.6 mm. Depth at 12th fret 24 mm.

The Jaguar was launched in 1962 as another top-of-the-line guitar in the same vein as the Jazzmaster. Both guitars shared the modern offset body shape and distinct floating tremolo system. The Jaguar differed in its use of a shorter 24-inch scale length and stronger single-coil pickups, which were encased in notched covers to shield the electronics from external radio noise (a typical annoyance with the Jazzmasters soapbars). Both guitars integrated a unique dual rhythm/lead circuit design, yet on the Jaguar the lead circuit includes three switches: on-off for the front pickup, on-off for the back pickup, and a bass-cut switch that adds an extra capacitor to the signal.
