1971 Gibson ES-335 TD, Ice Tea Sunburst

1971 Gibson ES-335 TD with an ice tea sunburst finish. It comes in a late '60s Gibson hard case and with an invoice from the 2nd owner who purchased the guitar in 1975. Aside from one bridge saddle, it's all original and in exceptionally good condition with little to no fade in the finish which is the most vibrant I have seen in this colour. It has a great sounding pair of "Patent Number" humbucking pickups, a trapeze tailpiece with ABR-1 bridge, a great playing, mahogany neck, and "double-ring" Kluson tuners. It still retains an orange label. The nut width is slightly wider than is commonly found (and officially advertised by Gibson) on hollowbodies from this period, measuring 40.7 mm at the nut. It's also slightly chunkier with a measurement of 21.4 mm front to back at the 1st fret.

This guitar has been fully checked over & set up in our workshop with a low action allowing for very smooth movement around the fretboard and is an all-round excellent sounding and playing guitar. It has a big rich tone both plugged in and acoustically. Serial:621739. Weight: 7lbs 12.5oz. All but one pot date is covered in solder. The visible pot date is 1971.

The body finish has light lacquer checking but is almost entirely free of wear. The back of the neck and headstock are clean overall with just a few very small marks in the finish and some smalls dings around the edges of the headstock. The frets are in great shape having been cleaned and dressed in our workshop and all hardware & electronics are in excellent working order. There are no breaks or repairs, everything remains structurally sound.

The ES335 is Semi-Hollow it has a Maple front back & sides, double cutaway arched Maple top with f-holes, layered Black pickguard, Trapeze tailpiece, Rosewood fretboard with block inlays, 2 covered pickups; 2 volume, 2 tone controls with 3 position switch. Black headstock faceplate with pearl crown logo & 3 per side tuners.
