1953 Fender Precision Bass, Blonde

1953 Fender Precision bass, original Blonde finish in very good condition, Maple neck and fingerboard. All original aside from the case. Weight: 8 lbs 10.5 oz / 3.93 kg. Nut width: 43.6 mm. Depth at the 1st fret: 23.8 mm.  Supplied with 3-months warranty and 14-day returns policy.

The Ash body is very resonant and the neck plays like a dream with a comfortable medium-chunky rounded C profile. The original single-coil pickup has a warm, punchy, and rounded sound which delivers a rich bottom end.

There is lacquer checking throughout the body finish, a few small dings and scuffs as well as some buckle rash on the back and some heavier wear/flaking to the finish along the bottom edge. The frets are in excellent condition with very little wear and have been cleaned and dressed in our workshop. The fretboard itself is very clean with only light wear. The back of the neck and headstock exhibit wear and tear but surface only. There was previously a metal strap loop added to the upper horn above the original strap button; the original owner must have preferred a "dog clip" strap for a time. This has been removed and the screw hole patched. It now just looks like a small ding. The single-ply Bakelite pickguard is in good shape and fully intact with no cracks.

Fully set up with a set of flat-wound strings. It has a straight neck and the truss rod is fully operational in both directions. The body dates 4-8-53 and is signed off by Eddie, neck 5-26-53. The control cavity has the date, 5-25-53 and was signed off by Mary.  Only one of the pot date codes is legible reading 140-230 designating the 30th week of 1952.

Condition Very Good 7.5/10

Weight 8 lbs 10.5 oz / 3.93 kg
