1965 Fender Princeton

1965 Fender Princeton amplifier in excellent condition. Blackface, 12W, 1-10 in. Oxford speaker. Tube chassis, preamp: 7025, 12AX7, power: 2 X 6V6, 5Y3 rectifier, tremolo, front control panel, two input jacks, five black knobs (v, t, b, s, i), ground switch on back, black tolex covering, silver grille with raised Fender logo. Fender dustcover and new step down transformer included. 30-day warranty.

Tone wise, these amps have it all, plenty of grit, wonderful trem, sparkling cleans, and tons of warm overdrive. The faceplate, tolex and grille cloth are extremely clean. This is the perfect amp for gigging, recording, or just using at home. It's nice and light, weighing 11.55kg. Serial number A06771 / OL tube chart code, dating it to December 1965. The Oxford speaker has no visible date stamps or sticker so it hard to verify its age. It's certainly period correct. The transformers date to mid/late-1965. The pots have a mixture of dates from late 64 to mid/late 65. We fitted a new JJ Gz34 rectifier tube and Electro Harmonix 12AX7. The two 6V6 power tubes are made by RCA in the USA and may well be original to the amp. The 7025 is also USA made but we're unsure of the make.

The amp was service in late Aug 2020 by Mac Amplification in Leeds. The notes from the service were as follows: Remove ‘Death Cap’. Fit 3 core mains cable. Replace all incorrect value cathode bypass caps. Replace noisy and out of tolerance cathode resistors. Clean/lubricate control pots. Clean all valve bases and re-tension contacts. Valves tested.

Condition Excellent 8.75/10
Serial Number A06771
