1965 L series Fender Jazz bass in very good condition. It has a nitro Sunburst finish with a Tortoiseshell guard and rosewood fingerboard. When the bass came in it had an extra wire in the control harness attaching the jack socket to the pots. This wire was unnecessary so its been unsoldered. It was also missing the metal neck pickup cover. I bought a Fender reissue to go on the bass. The bridge cover is original. There is an extra screw hole in the pickguard and body from the finger-rest being re-positioned. Otherwise, this bass is all original including the case.
This is a fine example of a vintage Fender Jazz bass. The finish is in overall great shape with a few dings and scuffs around the edges of the body but nothing major for a bass of this age. It has a fantastic neck with light play wear and a few scuffs in the finish. The original frets are clean and in excellent condition having been cleaned and dressed in our workshop. The headstock is clean as is all the hardware.
This bass is a joy to play with a superb even sound right across the fretboard, it has a straight neck which is very slim at the nut, and there's tons of room in the truss rod. It's been fully set up in our workshop with a great medium/low action and a fresh set of Rotosound flat-wound strings. It weighs exactly 9lbs. Serial: L27406. The neck date is Sep 65A, the pots all date to the 42nd week of 65. The pickups have original windings. The sponge is stuck to the underneath so the dates are not visible. Nut Width: 37.75mm. Depth at 1st fret: 20.15mm.
